John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, Key Largo

Locate on Key Largo, John Peenekamp is a tourist spot. Park is commercialized with shops, dive shop, boat retails, paved roads and walks, and small sites. The positive, full hook up sites, lots of dinning and shopping options. It seems to be a hot spot for families that are exploring the Keys for the first time. There is a boat ramp, kayak/canoe launch area, picnic area, and areas where you can fish from the bank. The glass bottom boat tour was worth the expensive price, just to see the reef. The tour guide was knowledgeable and pointed out each fish species as well as delivered information on the history of the reef. The negative. The sites are right on top of each other. You do have room to pull your awning out, however that is it. Do it once and see it all. Some may love it, however it was not the Florida State Park normal that we have grown to love.
