Suwannee River State Park
Located off I 10 between 30 miles west of Lake City, it is a must do park for canoes, kayaks and trail walkers. Overall, the improved areas of the park are small, with approximately 30 sites. Sites are small in comparison to other Florida parks. Bathhouses are clean and recently renovated. Park contains several hiking trails, easy to moderate, that are well marked and tell the history of the area. You can find an old cemetery which is all that is left of the town that once was a merchant/supply port on the Suwannee during the civil war. You can also see the old port and ferry area as well as the earthworks camp that protected them. A boat ramp is located at the end of the road, small boats only. The trails that follow the river are also well marked and contain information on the springs and formations you will find. This is a do again park.
